About Me
Athlete. Mentor. Visionary. Community Builder.
I'm Wayne Selden Jr., a professional basketball player, proud Roxbury native and founder of the WSJ Crossover Foundation.
My Story
Coming from a single-parent household, my journey has taken me places a kid from Roxbury can only dream of — from Boston to the biggest stages in basketball — from Kansas to the NBA, and across the world. But no matter how far the game took me, my heart never left home.
I come from a community where opportunity isn’t always easy to find. I’ve been fortunate that basketball opened doors I might not have had access to otherwise. Now, I’m committed to being part of the solution — providing resources, opportunity, and experiences where they may not usually exist.
That’s why I created the WSJ Crossover Foundation: to give back in the most real and consistent way possible. We host free basketball camps, mentorship programs, life skills workshops, back-to-school drives, and more — all rooted in love for our community and a commitment to helping the next generation cross over from potential to purpose.
This work started long before we had a name or nonprofit status. Funding events out of pocket, showing up, giving back, and creating space for kids to feel seen, supported, and inspired. With the WSJ Crossover Foundation, we’re building something bigger — with structure, vision, and a team that believes in the long game. This goes beyond the game. It’s about helping young people navigate life, discover their greatness, and write their own story.
If you’re here, thank you for tapping in. Whether you’re a parent, a partner, a supporter, or a young person looking for guidance — know that you’re part of this journey too.
